After spending over 35 years in the aerospace and defense industry prior to coming to LocatorX, I have experienced first-hand many of the supply chain challenges. Organizations constantly battle unapproved or counterfeit parts entering the supply chain.

The Aviation Supply Chain Integrity Coalition released a report this week highlighting many of the challenges we have been talking about for too long. The report recommends specific actions the aerospace industry should take to help prevent future unapproved parts from entering the propulsion supply chain. Download the full report here.

Their research included interviews with more than 38 experts across the industry from 24 organizations. LocatorX was fortunate and honored to be one of the interviews during the process, providing our additional insights on what is needed to prevent the introduction of Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUPS) in the aviation propulsion supply chain.

The Coalition developed 13 recommended actions, across three categories including:

-  Vendor Accreditation

-  Document Traceability andVerification

-  Non-serialized Parts Traceability

I am excited to see the actions the Coalition members have already started taking to come together and begin to the drive necessary changes in the industry. Many thanks to the founding Coalition members that have come together to combat this extremely important issue:  Airbus, American Airlines, Boeing, Delta AirLines, GE Aerospace, Safran, StandardAero, and United Airlines.

As you may know from my previous posts, combating counterfeit and unapproved parts in our supply chain has been a personal mission of mine for many years. I joined LocatorX because I saw a solution that addresses key supply chain problems.

I’m very proud of our team for developing the LX Suite. We hold many patents, including one for our LX Digital Fingerprint. This is our secure, unique identifier that lives with apart or family of parts from the creation of an item until it is consumed or retired. What makes our LX Digital Fingerprint different from other UID (unique identifiers) is that we capture all of the critical part, Chain of Custody, inventory, logistical, and visibility data from multiple sources and maintain the required digital thread in our LX Data Vault.

Advancements in AI and data sensor technology continue to evolve, driving change and pushing boundaries. We have only just scratched the surface of enabling companies to manufacture and deliver products with confidence. It will continue to be my focus to highlight critical challenges and ensure we bring solutions to the market that make our supply chains safer for consumers.

Thank you to the Coalition for not only shining a much brighter light on the issues but also taking steps to solve the problems.
