Colonel (retired) Michael Stephens is currently the Director of Army Programs for Systecon North America. He Leads corporate strategy for U.S. Army programs, develops new business opportunities with Army and Industry, serves as program manager for all Army programs. Lead and support team members in customer engagement. Lead development of AI/ML, modeling and simulation efforts for customers using OPUS Suite. Prior to his position at Systecon, Michael was a Colonel in the United States Army. He retired in August of 2023after 28 years of service.
His most recent Army assignment was as the Deputy Director of theArmy Materiel Command Organic Industrial Base Modernization Task Force.Previously he served as the Military Deputy to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Product Support. He was responsible in that role to the DASD(PS)as Chief of Staff and Military Assistant for all product support policy matters. He provided oversight of ODASD (Product Support) task organization, budget, mission alignment, and policy as well as legislative efforts. He also served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Product Support)for over six months.
Prior to attending theEisenhower School for War College, COL (RET) Stephens served as the Division G4for the 1st Infantry Division and deployed with the headquarters to serve as the J4 for CJFLCC-OIR in Iraq. Previously, he served as the SquadronCommander for the Regimental Support Squadron of the 11th Armored CavalryRegiment at the National Training Center. From 2012 through 2014, he served as the J4 for the White House Communications Agency where he also served as aPresidential Communications Officer. From 2011 until 2012, he served as theSupport Operations Officer (SPO) for the 82nd Sustainment Brigade,XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC. He has held many other leadership and staff positions as well, from platoon leader to battalion command.
Mr. Stephens holds a BA in History and Political Science from North Georgia College, an MBA from Brenau University, and an MS in National Resource Strategy from The Eisenhower School at the National Defense University.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with 1 OLC, Defense MeritoriousService Medal 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal 2 OLC. He also earned the CombatAction Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge,Presidential Service Badge, and the Office of Secretary of Defense ServiceBadge.
